The University Information Security Office has detected an increase of email attacks, which are known as phishing. These new attacks have improved websites and manage to stay on the Internet for longer time periods before being shutdown. Additionally, new phishing emails are starting to include phone numbers that also trick you into revealing personal information to identity thieves.
Please be cautious of all emails that are requesting personal information. Understand how the companies you deal with normally communicate with you. Don't click on links in email, instead type in web address of the site if you think it is legitimate.
To learn more about what phishing is and to protect yourself, please review a previous alert - Email Scams Known as Phishing.
Thank you,
