Critical Apple OS Updates for August 2022

As a result of several critical cyber vulnerabilities being reported in Apple products, the company has released macOS and iOS updates. These patches are considered urgent updates that address a zero-day vulnerability that can allow an attacker to take control of Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, and watches.
Since August 28, UIS has been pushing updates to all Georgetown-owned and Georgetown-managed Mac computers affected by this vulnerability.

Note: This update may take 20+ minutes to completely install on your device.
What Do I Need to Do?
- If you have a Georgetown Mac computer and you DO NOT receive an automatic update notification on your computer screen, you need to update manually.
- If you have a non-Georgetown (personal) Mac computer, you should enable automatic update on your computer, and check to see if you have the latest operating system version for your model.
MacOS: System Preferences > Software Update. Install Update.
If you see “Your Mac is up to date,” then you’re not affected.
iPhone and iPad users will need to manually update their devices:
iOS Devices: Settings > General > Software Update. Download and Install.
If you see “iOS is up to date,” then you’re not affected.
