Computer & Network Security Incidents

An incident involves any real or suspected loss of data or misuse of the University’s information or information systems, including contamination of resources by computer viruses, malware or ransomware.

For assistance at an time, contact the University Help Desk to submit a help ticket to be directed to the on-call Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (help[@]georgetown.edu).

If your computer is stolen or lost, contact the Department of Public Safety first at 202-687-4343. Then contact us at help[@]georgetown.edu.

Online Harassment & Abuse

To report an incident of online harassment or abuse, send an e-mail message to the offices of threat assessment and cybersecurity incident response

  • abuse [at] georgetown.edu and
  • CIRT [at] georgetown.edu.

Make sure to include as much information as possible (log files, your time zone, or complete message headers, etc).

Copyright Infringement

It is the intent of Georgetown University to comply with the provisions of Copyright Act of 1976 and all related legislative acts. Please send information about alleged copyright infringements to the university’s designated Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (DMCA) agent on file with The Library of Congress.

If you are a Georgetown student and have questions or concerns about your physical security and well-being, please contact the Department of Public Safety at (202) 687-4343, or DC Police at (202) 727-1000.

You can also contact Georgetown’s Threat Assessment Program.  This program is available to help address threatening behavior and potentially dangerous situations to reduce the level of threat and prevent harm.
