It’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2021!

Georgetown is a Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion. Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart

Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CSAM) is a partnership between the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA)  to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity.

All of us have a role to play in securing our data, maintaining our devices, and avoiding the scams and malicious content. Throughout the month of October, UIS will be sharing helpful information that will help you Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.

This year, we’re focusing on ransomware, which is a prevailing threat for many municipalities, corporations, and higher education institutions like Georgetown. You’ve probably seen in the news that hackers can infect an organization’s network with malware and lock up all its files and cripple its operations until a ransom is paid.

Check this page throughout the month to learn more about how to recognize the warning signs of phishing and other malicious email messages that might contain ransomware links.

It’s up to us all to protect our data and Georgetown.
